About
The Scottish Information Network is an informal networking group for information
professionals. Members come from a mix of backgrounds to organise and attend
events, and network. Events focus on issues of interest to information professionals.
They usually take place on Monday evenings and follow the format of two presentations
- at least one of which is led by a member of the SIN community - followed
by a discussion and refreshments. There is no charge to participate in our
events thanks to the generosity of our partners,
and anyone who shares the interests of SIN is welcome to join the group's
activities. If you would like to join SIN, please email
John Coll.
Here for you
Need help/advice from a SIN colleague? Let
us know what you need and we can publicize it through this site.
The Scottish Information Network was set up to help you. However, to thrive
and grow it needs an active membership. Please support it in any way you
can. Whether this be committee work, suggesting or speaking at an event, attending an
event or even just sharing news. Each and every way helps SIN.

New Committee members
SIN is always interested in recruiting new committee members. The work is not onerous and involves
attendance at 5-6 meetings a year and involvement in organising at least
one event. Involvement is an excellent way to get know many people in this
sector and could be very useful for career development. If interested please
contact John Coll for an informal chat.
Facebook
Facebook – love it, hate it or possibly not even aware of it? SIN
has got a Facebook Group for the Scottish Information Network. This
networking group will allow you to see other Facebook members who are also
members of SIN. Perhaps you bumped into someone at a recent event and can’t
remember their name? Or perhaps you are going to an event and want to be
able to recognize some people before you arrive? Facebook will allow you
to do such things. However, please note you will only be able to see those
members who wish their details to be displayed. For reasons of privacy this
group has been set up as a closed group on Facebook. This means only approved
(i.e. SIN members) can join. All members are invited to join but if
you would prefer not be invited please e-mail John
Coll. If you currently don’t have a Facebook entry the invitation
will prompt you to create one. Remember, you choose how much information
you wish to appear on Facebook and this information is only shared with
members of SIN. Facebook is not designed to replace our networking events
but we believe it could add value to such networking.
